Lyons Park is named for the Lyons family that settled in Pleasant Township in 1825. Robert Lyons, a soldier of the War of 1812, had settled here with his wife, Jane VanArsdall Lyons, and family. He set up the first saw and grist mills in the county, and also operated a tannery. There is a long line of Lyons’ descendants, some of which still reside in Greenwood over 200 years later. This community will honor these first settlers of this area by highlighting their final resting place near the back of this community, featuring beautifully designed and landscaped grounds with a walking path around the Lyons Cemetery. This will give the neighborhood a quiet area to enjoy the great outdoors while remembering those who first settled here and began the path of what the city of Greenwood would later become. Greystone is a southside community of over 140 custom homes. The main entrance is located on Shelbyville Road between Edgewood Ave and Arlington Rd. The neighborhood is located within the Franklin Township school system. The neighborhood was initially developed by the Copenhaver Group. The first homes were constructed in 1993. In 1997, Home-A-Rama, an annual Indianapolis home tour, was conducted on Woodworth Court of Greystone.
